# Mission Impossible

Today Granny told us a true story that taught us that however good we think we are we will never be good enough for Jesus the King!  
Do you remember the rich man who had a very important question to ask Jesus?  “What good things must I do to have life forever?”  The man thought that by being good he could be friends with God.  But Jesus wanted to show him that no-one was good enough.
So Jesus asked him if he had obeyed the commands.  And each one that Jesus asked him about, the man had kept.  He was quite a good man! 
But Jesus wanted to show the man that he was not really good so he told him to sell everything he has & give it all away!  The man thought he could be good enough to be friends with Jesus but he loved his money more than he loved Jesus.  And that means he isn’t good enough.

In fact Jesus wanted everyone to know that however rich you are or however good you are you cannot be his friend.  
Jesus tells his disciples this, “Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God. In fact it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”
Now that’s impossible isn’t it.  Think about a huge big camel, you could never get it through the tiny little hole in a sewing needle. 
The disciples then ask “So who then can be saved?!”
And Jesus then says it’s not just impossible for a rich person but in fact impossible for anyone “With humans this is impossible, but not with God.  With God all things are possible.” 

So it is impossible to be good enough for God.  It is impossible for us to save ourselves.  But it is possible for God.
So who then can be friends with God?  Only God can make us His friends.  And tomorrow we will learn how God can make us his friends even though we are not good enough for God.
