Identity Revealed

This is in the Bible in Mark Chapter 8

One day Jesus and his disciples were crossing the Lake of Galilee in a boat. Jesus had done loads of miracles since calming the storm. He’s healed loads of people, raised a girl from the dead, fed 5000 people with 5 loaves and 2 small fish, and then 4000 with another 7 loaves and a few fish.
But the disciples still don’t really know who Jesus is. They’ve had lots of clues but don’t seem to be getting it.

While in the boat Jesus spoke to the disciples “Don't you understand yet? Are your minds so dull? You have eyes - can't you see? You have ears - can't you hear?” Jesus is saying it’s like they can’t see who Jesus is. They need someone to help them see who Jesus is. A bit like the man Jesus next met. When Jesus got out of the boat, some people brought a blind man to him and begged him to heal him. Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Jesus spat on the man’s eyes & touched them. He asked “Can you see anything now?” “Yes” the man replied, “I can see people, but they look like trees walking about.” Jesus then touched his eyes again and then the man could see perfectly.

Later that day, Jesus asked his disciples a very important question, “Tell me, who do people say I am?” The disciples answered, “Some people say that you are John the Baptist, some people say that you are the prophet Elijah and some people say you are one of the other prophets” Now they know Jesus is special but it’s not really who he is. So Jesus asked his disciples, “But who do you say I am?” Peter then answered Jesus “Jesus, you are the Christ.” The disciples now finally see who Jesus is. Before they could not see but Jesus has helped them see who he is.

We need Jesus to help us see who Jesus is. We can ask him and he will open our eyes to see Jesus.
